Music Maker 25: Opening Reception, ‘Selections from Timothy Duffy’s
Blue Muse

Tuesday, November 19, 2019 | 6:00 pm

Join us for an opening reception celebrating ‘Selections from Timothy Duffy’s Blue Muse’, an installation featuring the tintype photography of folklorist, musician, and Music Maker Relief Foundation co-founder Timothy Duffy.

As part of Duke Performances’ Music Maker 25 — a five-day festival in downtown Durham this December celebrating 25 years of Music Maker Relief Foundation — several large-scale reproductions of portraits from Duffy’s most recent collection, Blue Muse, will be on display in the Rubenstein Arts Center through January 31, 2020.

This event is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Music Maker, a groundbreaking nonprofit based in Hillsborough, NC, was founded to preserve the rich musical traditions of the South by directly supporting the musicians who make it, ensuring their voices will not be silenced by poverty and time. The organization works to give future generations access to this heritage through documentation and performances that build knowledge and appreciation of America’s roots music traditions.

Co-sponsored by Duke Arts and the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts at Duke University. Music Maker 25 is made possible, in part, with support from the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Music Maker 25 is proud to be a part of Come Hear NC and the Year of Music in North Carolina, as well as the Smithsonian Year of Music.
